Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Renee Bugenhagen

Dr. Bugenhagen is a graduate of Iowa State University. Immediately after graduation, she moved to Buffalo and has called it home ever since. She has worked in small animal practice as an associate veterinarian, practiced emergency medicine for 10 years and eventually after working for Dr. Dygert at Hamburg Veterinary Clinic purchased the practice from him. Her desire to better the veterinary profession led her to a teaching position in the Veterinary Technology Program at Medaille College as well.

After purchasing a Saint Bernard puppy who was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia at the age of 4 months, she became frustrated with her inability to relieve his suffering using conventional medications as he aged. This frustration prompted her to seek advanced training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine therapies including acupuncture, herbal, food and massage therapy.

Dr. Bugenhagen is an active member of national, state and local veterinary associations and attends numerous hours of continuing education programs annually to continually improve the quality of care she can offer her patients. She currently has 4 dogs, 4 cats, a parrot, 2 horses, 60 chickens and 4 human children. Her greatest desire is to continue to improve herself so that she can provide the highest quality medical and surgical services to her patients in order for them to enjoy long and happy lives with their owners.
